We can replace your electric supply unit. This where all of your electrical power comes in and out. It contains all of the safety circuit breakers for your electrical wiring.
The traditional fusebox has now been replaced by Miniature circuit breakers (MCB) contained in a Consumer Unit.
The Consumer Unit is the most important part of your electrical circuitry. It is vital to invest in a modern Consumer Unit to handle the demands of a modern property. Many Consumer Units are out of date and many home owners are unaware of this. We can inspect your current set-up and advise the best type of Consumer Unit to install.
Since 2001 electrical installations are required to incorporate a residual current device (RCD). This makes the unit safe when circuitry is supplied outdoors. When a fault occurs the RCD trips and cuts the power. Even though you may not have outdoor circuitry, you are required by law to install RCD protection for all cables that are embedded in a wall, with the exception of alarm circuits.
A professional experienced electrician is necessary to ensure your Consumer Unit meets wiring criteria as set out in 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008). All of our Consumer Units meet these criteria.
Your Local Authority must be informed of your new Consumer Unit. We will provide you with a safety certificate – known at the BS7671. The certificate should be kept in a safe place for future reference.
